Super Rugby – Round 10, part 2

Ahh holidays. I love them.

Happy Easter everyone, may your eggs be bountiful or whatever the appropriate saying is.

And some girls say we don’t post enough for the ladies!

Force vs  Bulls

PdV has come out in support of the senior players in the Bulls side. He argues that although they need to improve their work rate, according to stats, they are not playing that badly. Hard to believe, really.

He says Pierre Spies will improve when Gurthro Steenkamp comes back as he will be part of a stronger scrum. This may be true but the big concern surely must be the man giant’s inability to catch the ball and keep it in the tackle. His defense has looked shoddy and along with Matfield and Olivier, looks way out of form.

The Force managed a surprise win last week, thereby ballsing up my Superbru predictions. Thanks guys. They finally managed to maintain possession and to play most of the game in the Brumbies half. With O’Connor still leading the way they will not be an easy assignment for a Bulls team who absolutely must win to keep their play-off chances alive.

This result may well decide if the Bulls have a hope of defending their title. Expect a cracking game of rugga and no mistake.

Venue: ME Stadium, Perth

Kick-Off: 2:05pm

Prediction: Bulls to sneak a win

Sharks vs Hurricanes

The Sharks had a bye last week which came at a good time as it has meant 1 more week for baby face Lambie to recover from his hand injury. John Smit is starting at hooker after PdV basically asked John Plumtree to play him there. The official word is that Bismark is pissed off injured but either way it will be good to see if Smit can dominate in the position. My opinion is that Smit is a better captain than Matfield and I hope that he is our captain for the RWC2011.

The Hurricanes won a try fest last Sat against the Cheetahs and although they looked good on attack must be worried about letting in the 5 tries. They have had a SHITake season so far and with the Sharks defense being far superior to the Cheetahs, they are going to struggle to win in Durban.

Venue: Mr Price King’s Park, Durban

Kick-Off: 5:05pm

Prediction: Sharks by 5-15

Lions vs Chiefs

The Lions played better last week. Burton Francis impressed with his display and they were still in it with 10 min to play but still lost. John Mitchell said he was happy that the team improved from the week before, which is well and good but come one guys, win a game for FiretrUCK sakes!

The Chiefs have lost inspirational old man river Umaga but are still a very strong side with game breakers all over the shop. Last year they beat the Lions 72-65 in a crazy festival type game where defense was given up as a bad joke and both teams scored at will. When asked about the scoreline after the game, the Chiefs coach had this to say ” Hmmmm tries. Delicious.” Quite frankly I don’t care how it happens, I just want to celebrate a first Lions of the season.

Venue: Coca-Cola Park, Joburg

Kick-Off: 7:10pm

Prediction: Lions by who cares how much.
