The Protection of Information Bullsh.t

Protection of Information Bill

The proposed Protection of Information Bill has been dubbed a danger to democracy and met with opposition of just about all fronts. The Bill’s draconian legislation is a serious threat to the freedom of information, proposing a raft of changes in the way state information is classified and protected, whether it is passed or not remains to be seen.

The Daily Maverick, often the voice of reason, published the ‘Protection of Information Bill, a story about a special kind of divorce‘ by Stephen Grootes today. Its a great piece on many levels, not least its bold address of the problem and the potential implications should the Protection of Information Bill find accord with parliament

If this stark journalism is muted I hate to think what lunacy will run completely unaccountable to the public.
