Longest game of Tennis everrr.

Yesterday, in a first round Wimbledon match (carried over from Tuesday) American John Isner and Frenchman Nicolas Mahut managed to play for the entire day’s play before bad light stopped play. They have now played a jaw dropping, 10 hours in this match. A new record, beating the previous longest match, played at the French Open in 2004, by three and a half hours.

10 hours! Of tennis! Incredible times.

I once played Mario Bros Tennis for 3 full days over a Christmas holiday but afterwards I had to go on a drip.

Neither of them could break the other’s serve with Nicolas Mahut serving 95 aces and John Isner amassing 98 during the marathon session.

The score when play was suspended was 2 sets and 59 games all.

Nicolas Mahut saved 4 match points and served to stay in the match 55 times and continued to chase down shots throughout. He did sometimes take to lying on the ground.

After much panting, John Isner said “Nothing like this will ever happen again. Ever”.

Mahut had this to say “Someone has to win so we’ll come back tomorrow”.

The players left to thunderous applause and standing ovations aplenty and will complete their match today.
